In 2020 my brother passed away. I spent the year in various stages of grief. Growing up we had a challenging relationship which lead to a complicated grieving process. I began to recognize feelings of guilt and shame along with the sadness of losing a loved one. To process these uncomfortable emotions, I turned to my art. What emerged was the “Wasp Stories.” Wasps are annoying pests that seem to have no redeeming characteristics. They embody those "worthless feelings of guilt" I was experiencing in the wake of my brother's death. While exploring these dark emotions, I have learned to have compassion for myself, my relationships, and even for the wasps.
