These pieces are part of my "Red Thread" series. The red thread is based upon the Chinese legend of the red thread of destiny as well as a bloodline connecting us to our ancestors. In this body of work, I explore the varied emotions and experiences of relationships.

According to the Chinese myth, the gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of men and women who are destined to be soul mates and will one day marry each other. The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.

Additionally,the red thread used in these pieces was found in my grandmother's embroidery box. I found this box of old threads after she passed away.
